TT99 Insurance

Having your driver’s license endorsed with penalty points or driving convictions can have a major impact on how much you pay for your car insurance. Even if you have a small number of penalty points, trawling the internet to find affordable car insurance can be stressful and time consuming. It isn’t unheard of for insurers to hike their prices by hundreds or even thousands of pounds once they find out that your driver’s license is no longer clean. Unfortunately it’s even more difficult to find an insurance provider that will offer reasonably priced insurance for a driver that has received a TT99 or “totting up” conviction.

Insurance With A TT99 Conviction

If you accumulate or “tot up” 12 or more penalty points in a three year period your driver’s license will be endorsed with a TT99 conviction. Drivers that receive a TT99 are also generally handed a driving ban, the length of which depends on the severity of the offence or offences committed and whether or not you have been disqualified from driving before.

Once your driving ban has served and you want to start driving again, finding TT99 insurance can be stressful and costly. Once you have committed multiple or serious offences, insurers will perceive you as a high risk driver because statistics suggest that you are more likely to make a claim against your policy. Many mainstream insurance companies will either expect you to pay a much higher premium or even refuse to offer insurance at all.
